Grieving!

(Image from Etsy Seller gallogirlphotos's)

On Wednesday night we received a call with terrible news. A friend of ours passed away after a very long battle with lupus. I'm extremely sad, I can't even begin to comprehend how someone so young(she was only 27) and beautiful inside out and out could be taken away from this world. I had intended to share with all of you my master bedroom makeover but to be honest I'm not in the mood. I promise to post about it next week! Please keep her family in your prayers, her husband is a wonderful person and Bobby's very good friend. Please tell everyone you love how much you love them, hug them, kiss them! Life is very fragile and short. Make your goal in life to be the best version of your self and appreciate everything you have!

Thank you for understanding and I hope you have a fabulous and safe weekend!

Are you surprised I'm not done working on our home? I didn't think so because neither are you. So what do you think? Do you love typography as much as I do?

Have an awesome Thursday!!!

Ikea Rast Reveal at last!

This was a project I had been wanting to complete since we moved, that was five months ago! The Ikea Rast night stands are versatile and relatively inexpensive. I had used them before in a little girl's room and I love the way they turned out! I wanted a mid century modern feel and I'm thrilled with they way they turned out. I'm posting this picture with a bare window since I plan to post my master bedroom reveal later this week and I want for the before and after to be much more dramatic. If you have any questions on instructions, please email me and I will be more than happy to help! The handles are from Ikea as well, see here. Stay tuned! A lot more design goodness will follow.

Ikea Bookshelves are finally up!!!

I'm extremely happy with the way the shelves turned out. I swear Bobby is a saint after all of the projects he helped me complete on Sunday! More on that later. After reading all of your comments on the Expedit bookshelf and the Lack bookshelf from Ikea, I decided to go a different route. As you can see from the pictures, this area of the home doesn't have a lot of space and either bookshelf would have taken up way too much space. While browsing at Ikea, I came across this shelves and decide they were the best solution to my problem. I love how they the fill the space, although I'm not done accessorizing, I'm pretty please with the end result.....for now at least. What do you think? Do you like the way it turned out? and please be kind, Bobby will be reading your comments and his feelings will be hurt! lol

Lucite Love!!!

Lucite has a reputation of being a blast from the past by those that don't appreciate its fabulousity. I adore lucite, adore it and if I could build Yansy's world around it, I would. I wanted to share some images of different styles of lucite furniture with you. See how it can go from being ornate to having clean lines with always adding a touch of airiness to any space. Love it!!!
The Classic Ghost Chair- Philippe Starck is a genius.
The classic bamboo Chippendale chair in lucite. Loving the toile seat cushion as well.

Not for nothing but I'm obsessed with this coffee table. I want it now!.......wonder where I would store my current one which I equally love. The problems we have in life!
The perfect Trunk!!!

I hope you're having a fabulous Thursday and I will continue to imagine my lucite world or should I call it Planet? What do you think?

Lonny-My favorite Issue yet!!!

Michelle Adams and Patrick Cline are at it once again! This latest issue of Lonny is by far my favorite, I'd spent hours devouring every page and detail of this issue. I'm so proud of Michelle and everything she's accomplished in so little time. She is one of the sweetest people I've met through this amazing blog world and I find her to be an inspiration. Now, I'm off to continuing my ongoing search for an Hermes tray. What did you think of this issue?

Happy Valentine's Day!

(image via Design Sponge)
Valentine's Day happens to be on of my favorite holidays of the year! Yes, I know it's not recognized as a holiday but it is in my book. Last year, I chose to host a dinner party for our closest friends, this year Bobby and I have opted to spend it together in seclusion and dining at Mr.Chow. I hope you have a wonderful, peaceful, romantic and joyful weekend along with your better half and family.

Here are some wonderful homes that constantly remind me of Valentine's Day! Wonder why?

P.S I will be working on the new night tables for our master bedroom on Saturday. Wish me luck!

Dramatic. Classic. Organized

Dramatic. Classic. Organized: Those are the words designer TOBI FAIRLEY chose to describe her own style. She designed this home feature on House Beautiful, by the way, this home is in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I know, I almost gasp when I read that. It goes to show you that sophisticated design is appreciated everywhere. The homeowners are in their sixty's, yup you heard me. That's a couple with great taste or what? And now for the grand tour.....
The grand foyer, with Nina Campbell's fabulous damask print on the walls. The damask is very traditional in term however the overscale pattern makes it modern. Love how it covers the ceiling as well!
In the living room Tobi chose to do a venetian plaster in a powder blue. Love the art work above the sofa and the rug.
And now to my favor room in the house, the dining room. Loving the chandelier but the real star is the unexpected tufted banquet gracing the wall behind the dining room table.

I know you have seen this picture all over the blog-sphere and now you know which home it belongs to. Love the beautiful painted floors and turquoise chandelier.

All images are courtesy of HouseBeautiful.com
A Hollywood glam master bedroom in Arkansas. Love the tufted headboard, the starburst mirror, the mirror night stands and the Lucite curtain hardware.

P.S. I hope you enjoyed this glamorous home tour. I'm off to the gym and then Ikea to get all the extras I need to finish my master bedroom. Tomorrow a sneak peak of my new bedroom curtains.

To my NE readers, I hope you are staying warm and safe.

Living Room Update

I'm back with new pictures of our living room, hoping you are enjoying the progress as much as I am. When we moved in, I had an idea of the look I wanted for the room without knowing how it was going to turned out. I'm pleasantly surprised with the progress so far but there are a million things left to do which I will be sharing with you my dear friends. I need a rug badly, and have yet to come across one that catches my eye. I have a feeling I'm going to end up settling for a jute rug which I love but Bobby not as much. A new plasma will be arriving soon and I will be doing an art project on that wall. Stay tune for that one!!! Since we are renting and if you remember correctly Bobby is not allowing me to paint the walls, I decided to bring color with accessories. The gallery wall still has plenty of space for art and I'm definitely eying my dear friend Anne Harwell's fabulous work for the rest of the wall. I hope you have a fabulous Thursday and as always your opinions are very much appreciated.

P.S Sorry for not noticing Jade's bone on the picture. She already apologized to me for not picking up after herself.

Bookshelf Help!

I really need your help deciding on which bookshelf to get from Ikea. We have a space on top of our stairs, on our third floor where I would like to put a bookshelf. Either the Expedit or the Lack would work however I can't make up my mind. Its not easy to live in a three story townhouse, I'm constantly finding myself being challenged by the layout but there is no fun when designing a space is simple! right? I have already decided on the color white, except I don't know which of the two will work best. I have all of my books in boxes in the garage and they definitely need a place to call their home other than a cardboard box. Which design do you like best? I could never understand why is so simple to make decisions that involve my client's home and not when it comes to my own. Help Please!!!

Orange makes me happy!

I just got back from my b-day weekend getaway and I'm definitely not ready to get back to my work schedule. I had such a great time and I'm already missing the sunset cruises, the walks on the beach and the great ambiance! I have so many meetings with new client's ahead of me and although I'm grateful 2010 has started at a great pace, a growing business makes everything more complicated. I wanted to share with all of you my new business cards via pixelimpress on Etsy. I saw Tammy Style's cards and I immediately fell in love with the design. Orange and green happen to be one of new favorite color combination, which I'm currently using in my living room. Below, you can find more images incorporating one of my favorite colors. I believe every room needs a bit of zebra as well as orange.

P.S I have not forgotten to post pictures of the progress in my living room. Bobby promised to get me a new usb cable tomorrow since I can't find ours. Looking forward to a great new year and enjoying my 25th b-day!
