Wall decals, tacky or classy?

the boring brown wall

So, I have this boring wall in our bedroom that has been driving me insane since we moved in. I have been on the hunt for the perfect Starburst mirror, at the perfect price if you know what I mean. I have yet to find one. For a while I have been wanting to make that wall a focal point, since is the first wall you see when you enter our room. I thought of a wall decal of tree branches in white could possibly work but I have yet to find the perfect one as well. Since, I haven't found a mirror or a wall decal that's up to my standard, I guess we can blame that on my OCD. I have decided to do it on my own after coming across a post from the youngsters that inspired me. I will try to recreate a wall of branches or perhaps, I might try something more similar to the oiseaus at fleurs by FSchumacher but not with all the details since I would like to update the Chinoiserie pattern to something more modern. What do you think? Should I take my chances or should I should I just stick to a wall decal? My fear of a decal is that is not going to look finish. It can be scary to take on such a big project specially since I'm not an artist and I am the clumsiest person I know. I would love to start working on it this weekend but being that is the 4th July weekend, it's out of the question. This project along with the one hundred other projects I have in the works, will have to wait until next weekend. Please, let me know what you think. I need some words of encouragement on this one.

Our Future Living Room

The horrendous wall in our living room

I would like something similar to this wall of bookshelves

(Olivia Palermo's apartment)

Lately, I have been wanting to make so many changes to our home starting with our living room. Our living room is very large and long, in order for any furniture arrangement to work it needs to have two separate seating areas. Just like hot pink, I can't seem to be able to get an orange lacquer box I saw out of my head. The first thing I thought of was Hermes, of course a girl can only dream. I have been fantasizing about the leather Hermes coffee tray for a while now. I started working on a Design Board for our living room to present to the boyfriend and he really liked it. Of course, you know there were a few compromises. We first have to start by getting rid of the red/sage wall that was here when we moved and we never tackle the project due to our 30 ft high ceilings. We definitely have to hire a paint company to tackle that wall. I actually have envision that wall full of bookshelves all the way to the top of the ceiling, including a library ladder of course. I can't wait to get started. If you have any questions on any of the items on the design board let me know and I will send you the details on it.

Have a wonderful Monday!!

Tickle Me Pink, Some Design board Goodness

Phew... I can't believe, I've made it to my 51st post. It feels like it was yesterday when I started blogging. Lately, I have been wanting all things hot pink. I can't explain it and is quiet strange since pink has never been my color. As you can see, this is the second post this week with a reference to hot pink, thank you House Beautiful for the last issue. Well, I got my creative juices going and I end it up putting together on a Design board a room that I have not been able to get off my head. I would love to have this bedroom but there is no way in hell that Bobby will let me bring this much pink into our house. Since, I can't personally have it I hope that someone finds it inspiring enough to recreate it in their own home. I know my little sister will be all over this one. Mom, I think we are redoing Jessy's room all over again. Sorry, the headache I just created for you. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and stay tune, I will be posting more Design boards that I have been working on for friends and clients. If you have any questions in reference to the items on the Design board contact me and I will let you know where to find them.

P.S. Let me know if you need some help with your space. Contact me for pricing at yansyc@gmail.com.

xoxo,

Yansy

Run, I mean Head on over to Pier 1

Wow, long list but I couldn't pick a favorite. Pier 1 once again did not let me down. Almost every item in this list are on sale. I want to bring all these goodies home with me. I am obsessing over the round mirror table and all the throw pillows. The zebra rug is only $89, an amazing deal. Let me know if you pick up any of these items.

I'm head over heels for Trina Turk's new fabric line for Schumacher

Trellis in Pool

Peacock in Driftwood

Super Paradise in pool

Santorini in Marine

I can't seem to pick a favorite print and lately I have been day dreaming about redoing our patio. I'm pretty pleased with our seating area outback except that I would love to change the cushion covers. I am torn between the trellis in pool and the santorini in marine. I will keep you posted in which of the two I end up choosing or maybe I will change my mind once again and go for something more funky like the peacock print in driftwood. In the mean time, enjoy all the eye candy I've collected for you thanks the talented Mrs.Turk..... And yes my first fascination with her was when I purchased my first Trina Turk bathing suit. What can I say, is flawless.

I feel like painting the town Hot Pink

Lately, I have been having the blues for hot pink. I can't take all the credit since I must thank House Beautiful for their latest spread and Erin from Elements of Style for her last Fashion Friday post. It has made me wonder about how many hot pink rooms I would have in my house if Bobby would let me. Perhaps my office, and yes I just repainted the room a very serene cream but all the latest hot pink is making me reminisce about my childhood. When it was fine to have an all pink bedroom and you wouldn't get any judgment by anyone. I don't mean I want a all pink house with barbies overflowing my floor space. I'm just saying that is not fare to be judge by others when you become an adult and would like to have this color in your home. We are still little girls inside with a more expensive and sophisticated palate. Well since I can't have a hot pink entrance, I will settle for this outfit I put together. I can't wait for fall to get here so I can wear this feminine yet sophisticated outfit since I can't get away with wearing it in this 100% Miami weather without melting. Now, only if I could afford the price tag of $1,555 for the Alexander McQueen Peep-toe ankle boots. A girl is got to dream.
