Feeling like a failure!

I'm sorry to keep ranting about my everyday life but these two are our babies and we almost poisoned them.....not intentionally. Since summer is almost here we normally give Jade and Tazer their flea and tick medication around this time of the year. Well, on Monday we proceeded to do just that and it almost killed my babies. The topical medication gave them both a very bad allergic reaction! We noticed both of them acting erratic and restless, trying to rub their backs on the walls, kind of like cats do. They were also whimpering and breathing fast. Bobby is such a good daddy, he right away washed the medication off of them, twice each, and was up all night making sure they were fine. It has been three days already and they are still showing allergic reaction signs, but finally Tazer is laying down and Jade is playing, which before they were not doing. We did some research and it could take upto five days before all symptoms disappear for this type of allergic reaction. Please keep our little ones in your prayers. I feel like such a terrible mommy!

Oh no, that's terrible! I do know how you feel though about the bad mommy part- my kids have ingested socks and I felt terrible that I allowed them to get into them.

So weird that that happened though. Definitely talk to the vet and I'll be keeping them in my prayers!

Did you get them to the vet? They could help with a shot to decrease the severity of the reaction.

Also, (speaking as a former vet tech), did you use the Hartz brand or similar that you can get from the pet store? That stuff is pretty dangerous and much more risky for pets than the Frontline, Advantage, etc that the vet sells. The stuff from the vet costs more but that's because it's much safer for the critters.

Regardless, hope they heal quickly!!!

I'm sure they'll be okay...you both were right on it! So sorry you all had to go through that though, it's so difficult to watch them suffer in any way!

I think the higher ups are starting to recognize the dangers of this stuff and putting stricter guidelines on the manufacturers.

They're adorable by the way...praying for continued healing.

I hope they are doing okay! What a great guy to watch over them throughout the night! A wonderful trait (particularly if you ever decide to have children!!)
